We don’t know about you, but while the saying is that “less is more”, we kind of think that a little goes a long way. This is the main problem with all the hype over the web OS 3.0, due for release by HP. We were ‘teased’ by this impending device with the TouchPad last year, if you consider being teased to be quite the right word for being given so little information as to be a fairly pointless exercise.
Now it seems that the web 0S 3.0 is available at last, but only if you are already a part of the company’s Early Access programme. Fortunately, it’s not all that difficult to become a member so if you’re interested in developing for the TouchPad, drop them a line. The TouchPad now seems likely to be released in June, which would explain why the web OS 3.0 set has been released just now, giving developers plenty of time to come up with applications for it. However, we can’t help but think that a bit more information about them both could have been released by now, particularly if they want everyone to be as excited about them as we imagine they would and indeed as they seem to be.
In related news, last year the HP Vice President of Worldwide Developer Relations apparently let it slip to PreCentral that the Veer was “on course” for a release in May 2011, which is very nearly here, so that’s something to get excited by. Maybe.
