Have you ever dropped your cell phone? Do you remember the sinking feeling as you imagine the cost of having to fork out for another one? Fortunately, there are a few simple tips to make the situation less disastrous than you might immediately think.
The first thing to do if you accidentally drop your new or old cell phone in water is to take out the battery straight away. Batteries should be removed immediately from any wet gadget as if the battery stays in it runs the risk of shorting out, which could make it completely unsalvageable. The next step is to dry the outside of the cell phone with either a paper towel or a clean cloth in order to get rid of any surface water.
The next step is to dry the inside of the cell phone. One efficient and very simply way to get rid of all the water in your gadget is just to tip it in all directions. Then you should use silica gel in order to dry out the cell phone. Silica gel has the ability to absorb water from the air and it can be found in those small packets that are marked “Do not eat” whenever you buy a new pair of shoes or a packet of beef jerky. Silica gel can also be purchased from craft stores.
Take the cell phone, put it on top of the packet of silica gel in an airtight container, and leave overnight.
