Once again we bring you a Samsung vs Apple story, this time in video format as a durability test to see whether the iPhone 5 or the Galaxy S3 comes out on top. The tests are staged in three parts, which include a water dip, a dropping test, and screen test.
Both of the S3 and the iPhone 5 have a camera so you can clearly see them getting submerged into the water. Both are submerged whilst playing a music file, however you can see that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has completely cut off when the phone is taken back out of the water, to the extent that it cannot be powered back on. The iPhone 5 however still continues to play the music and work pretty much as normal (apart from some sluggish reactions on the touch screen).
The second test…
Includes dropping both the phones on a concrete surface, however this test isn’t really a fair test as they fall in a different manner. You will see that the iPhone 5 lands with its screen in tact, whereas the S3 hits the ground face down cracking the screen. Maybe if the test was redone and both phones landed face down, they may both crack?
The final test is another screen test where each phone gets household objects dropped onto them from a height. Gradually the weight starts to increase and the S3 is the first to crumble under the pressure again, as a 70cl bottle manages to crack the screen.
Just to remind you that these are simple tests that shouldn’t be taken 100% seriously, however it does give you a good idea of how far you can push them when it comes to water…although I wouldn’t go swimming with one.
Here is that video for you:
